Week in a nutshell

Ever so original name implies that it was supposed to be a post to summarize my weekly averages. "Was supposed to be" because I got a smartphone. An Android; to be precise - Samsung Captivate.

Sure, I downloaded an app for tracking blood sugar as soon as I could. I decided on On Track. Pretty good application (later about it). Works just fine - until you lose the phone. And so I did: got it last Saturday and lost this Friday. Since I did not synchronize it even ones - who has time for such stupid things when you have a new phone? - I lost all the data. I remember it was 91 last time I checked Friday night; but pretty sure today's Gazpacho threw me off at least by 4 points as I got over 100. Say, my weekly average was 95.

About On Track. Please keep in mind that I do not need insulin; neither other diabetes-specific medications.
Likes:
- very easy to set up and intuitive to use
- clean interface
- takes about a 20 second to add a new reading
- can add new categories (I added "Midmeals" as I like to test randomly)
- free (huh!)
- different types of reports
- ability to email logs (I've never used at - see above about the lost phone)
- whoever made this app considers reading over 144 to be high and over 256 - very high; bonus points for this

Dislikes:
- an icon with a huge red blood drop means you are tracking your period. Daily. Many times a day. People will be asking questions when they notice. Yes, my colleague Pam did notice and, indeed, asked. So, do not put it on your home screen, unless you don't give a damn. Should be easier if you are a male (or should it?) Anyway, the icon is just wrong.

As for the Samsung - I miss having it dearly. It was my very first new phone in 5 years; it was my very first smartphone; and now I have another 2-year contract with ATT for big fat nada. To be honest about the phone itself, it was kinda like a trophy wife: very pretty nuisance. I'm happily back to my old BB. Still very upset, though. Who leaves a brand-new phone in a brand-new case on one's car hood and drives away? It's not a coffee mug, it's a phone! Oh well.
